Walt’s Backhaus was founded by Walt Utz, an Islington foster carer whose baking is shaped by family, heritage and a love of bringing people together. Inspired by the sweet traditions of his German background, Walt learned to bake through family and now shares that warmth with the local community.
The name “Backhaus” means “Bake House” in German. For Walt, it represents more than baked goods: it is a small home bakery built around thoughtful service, handcrafted detail and the joy of giving.
